I have shared this story hundreds of times.  Finally remembered where I read about this high school and am sending it out for more to read.

Electronic Waste - A Solution?

I sure hope so. They give cash for trash...electronic trash.  What a great deal to mail them your old cell phone, laptop computer and they not only send you the box they will send you cash in payment for your unused electronics.  I have not had need to use them yet.  I would love to hear your comments if and when you do use them.  What a great way to discover that cash cow in your "storage drawer" or garage.  Keep me posted on your new found wealth.  http://www.gazelle.com/

We need this reminder!

  I saw this 60 Minute piece when it originally aired and wondered what to do.  I took my old monitor to the "recycle" place only to see this and wonder where it ended up. 

 

With monitors and old TVs a thing of the past and with all the flat screen technology the latest phase in “gotta have”, what can be done? 

 

Is the issue buying energy saving devices and green or dealing with our wastes? 

 

I can feed my garbage to my worms and they recycle it.  How does one safely recycle a dead monitor?

 

Then to get to my big bug!  If they think recycling TVs and monitors is a big issue wait till all those CFL's hit the waste dump.  They will never survive a trip to 

China

to be "recycled".  They are fragile and expose every living thing to the toxic mercury vapors.  Wooo hoo we save energy to do what to ourselves???

Does anyone have a safe and sane solution?  I would love to hear it.
