Liquids on a Plane

Many experts believe that binary liquid explosives (explosives created by mixing two otherwise harmless liquids together) are neither as easy to make or as feasible to use in a terrorist action as the mainstream media has implied in the wake of the recent British terrorism arrests.

This is from www.mercola.com and is only part of the story.

If they question the quality of the liquid you are carrying why not have a "will you drink, eat or taste the liquid carrying line".  If you pass that screening the you clear the taste test.  It might be easier to screen what one takes into the bathroom on a plane that in a carry on.

Aren't we a little...NO a lot out of balance.  More control is throwing the power and freedom we thought we once had or assumed we had out of balance .  They are setting up FEAR as a daily diet.  No wonder we have obesity as a health challenge.  Has anyone ever done a study of how much fear and emotions contribute to the challenges of overweight.  Then again who would fund it and who would be the bad guys.  It won't be MacDonalds or Del Taco.

Read the Labels

It is time to pay attention to the labels and even do some testing to see if the products you are buying are safe for your body and the health of your family.

Many items do not make to the label as they are below a certain percentage of the product ingredients.

THE MOST DANGEROUS INGREDIENTS IN CONVENTIONAL FOODS

1) Sodium nitrite -- causes cancer, found in most processed meats like hot dogs, bacon, sausage. Used to make meats appear red (a color fixer chemical).

2) Hydrogenated oils -- causes heart disease, nutritional deficiencies, general deterioration of cellular health, and much more. Found in cookies, crackers, margarine and many "manufactured" foods. Used to make oils stay in the food, extending shelf life. Sometimes also called "plastic fat."

3) Excitotoxins -- aspartame, monosodium glutamate and others (see below). These neurotoxic chemical additives directly harm nerve cells, over-exciting them to the point of cell death, according to Dr. Russell Blaylock. They're found in diet soda, canned soup, salad dressing, breakfast sausage and even many manufactured vegetarian foods. They're used to add flavor to over-processed, boring foods that have had the life cooked out of them.

Hemp crop for California

The following is good news for Farmers in California.  Hemp is a crop with many uses and is a farm and people friendly crop.  It is time we in the USA begin to grow it again.  Maybe it can replace some of the GMO crops and restore our country side.  It is used for paper so it will save some trees too.  www.Nativa.com  makes some wonderful hemp seed bars, protien power and shakes.  Check them out.

This is a partial report I received from www.VoteHemp.com

We are pleased to report that AB 1147, the California Industrial Hemp Farming Act, passed in the Senate today with a bi-partisan vote of 26-13. The bill now heads to the Assembly for a final concurrence vote and will then to Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger for his signature.

Since passing out of the Assembly in January of this year, AB 1147 gained momentum as legislators learned that

California businesses spend millions of dollars each year importing hemp from

Canada,

China

and

Europe

. Demand for hemp products such as clothing, food, body care, paper and auto parts has been growing rapidly in recent years with the U.S. hemp market now exceeding $270 million in estimated annual retail sales. The new law would give farmers the ability to legally supply

U.S. manufacturers with hemp seed, oil and fiber and would not weaken anti-drug laws.

Bill would allow hemp farming in California

Archives of early Quack Reporting

Early on, as I began my Blogging career in 2003, I posted at a different site.  That site is still alive and well and quite colorful I must say.  I would like you to have a look at that site as there are some exceptional articles, resources and information that are not out dated.  I invite you to explore.  I plan on doing the same and eliminate non essential material.  Enjoy your journey as much as I did in writing, posting and coloring my ideas.  It is all about patterns, colors and how we live our lives.

Foul Play at the FDA

Download notes_from_the_quack_reporter.doc

Notes from the Quack Reporter

SCIENTIFIC FOUL PLAY AT THE FDA
The Union of Concerned Scientists has released a survey of scientists who work for the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA). The survey reveals that one-fifth of FDA scientists "have been asked, for non-scientific reasons, to inappropriately exclude or alter technical information or their conclusions in a FDA scientific document." The study strongly suggests that the FDA is not adequately regulating products that significantly impact public health, including food, drugs, vaccines, and medical devices. The survey also indicates that 61 percent of the respondents knew of cases where FDA political appointees have "inappropriately injected themselves into FDA determinations or actions." Eighty one percent of FDA scientists in the survey agreed that the "public would be better served if the independence and authority of FDA post-market safety systems were strengthened."

Katrina Recovery - Raw Material

              Raw Material:

material suitable for manufacture or use or finishing (n).

Raw materials include things like cotton, grains, ore, and oil that we take from or grow in the earth. We turn these materials into products like clothing, rugs, bread, cars and gas. They are the products that feed our economy. I would like to shift this definition a bit and make it a verb, a word of action. In Hurricane Katrina evacuation centers across many states sit a manpower force charged to do something. For days, they have been frustrated, ignored, shamed and shuffled about by one government group after another. They have no where to go, little to do and are wondering about tomorrow.

These people, too, are “raw material.” Their spirits may be broken but inside is are dynamos ready to take off. They are raw, untapped and willing. Why not tap into this force and use it in the recovery program?

Don’t go to contractors in Chicago, Los Angeles and Atlanta to set up another government contract. Why not go to this force of "raw material", those who have a stake in the recovery work, a stake in their family, a purpose for the future? We have an unprecedented opportunity to capture this energy source and turn it into a remarkable force for good.

For the most part, these people don’t need to be given jobs at Wal-Mart or Taco Bell. They need to become part of the solution, part of the recovery from Katrina and part of their own recovery. This is part of restoring their human dignity, their mental frame of mind and the future of the Gulf Coast.

I have lived in Texas, Mississippi and Florida and have witnessed the spirit of the people living there. They love their part of the world, their friends and neighbors and greet visitors with a smile. Why can’t we, as a nation, support them in restoring their heart and soul along with new clothing, water and dollars.

We hear about people breaking in to stores to "steal" food, diapers and water. Let us step back for a moment and think of basic human needs. These people are desperate to feed their children, their families and themselves. I would bet that many of these "thieves" would have been happy to have left a chit or an IOU, saying, “I will pay you with time, labor or money when I have a way to make it again or can get it from my bank account.”

So I propose that we harness this "raw material" to rebuild their city with lots of creative new ideas for a greater and better tomorrow.

When this happens, their homes and neighborhoods will be lush not only in vegetation but most importantly in human spirit.

Katrina Recovery

I wrote the following letter to the editor of ODE Magazine in reference to this article

www.odemagazine.com/article.php?aID=4147&l=en

As I have watched and read over the past few day the priority that comes to me is restoring human dignity.  This letter was my first attempt to speak up, speak out and maybe make a big difference in many peoples lives. I may be an idealist but someone has to give this situation a new think. The old ways of recovery will be too slow for thousands displaced by Katrina..  If you read my post from yesterday you will see some of my background.
I really enjoy this magazine too.  Sue

RE: Bernard Lietaer-"a new kind of money"

We are at a place of crisis management. Thousands upon thousand of people with no place to go and nothing to do. It is like a time bomb waiting to go off as they sit on cots in sometimes healthy and other times filthy situations. Some have little or no food, water or diapers for the babies, others no change of clothes or sanitary facilities. They have no homes or jobs and wonder about their future. As the frustrations builds and boredom sets in, the fuse is getting shorter not longer.

I read your article "Money should work for us, not the other way around" Sept 2005, as I watched the recovery operations in the Gulf Coast. The Red Cross is set up to give things away (maybe) yet we have a huge population of idle humans wondering how they can restore just a small portion of their dignity. I can guarantee this dignity will not come from more sitting around and expecting a hand out.

Just as the mayor of Curitiba, Brazil set up the garbage recovery system in shanty town in exchange for bus tokens or the airlines set up "the frequent flyer miles" so too could an agency set up a complementary monetary system in a city or community to aid in recovery.

Why not ask Bernard Lietaer to assist a city as a model of recovery. This is the perfect situation to set up the complementary system. If I was mayor of any city, large or small I would jump at the chance. Why not take restoration into your own hands as FEMA could take weeks maybe months to show up on their door step.

Communities could adopt communities in this recovery operation, people could work on the honor system, oh my mind is spinning with opportunities and possibilities of how small groups helping small groups could really change the course of history. It certainly would change the lives of all participating members.

I quote from your article here. "A monetary system driven by interest payments also blocks progress toward a sustainable economy. Amen to that and this is a perfect example of how this could block recovery. "The environment is a time problem," Lietaer says. "A company like Shell undoubtedly has a better idea of the next century’s energy needs than any government. But within the current monetary system we cannot entrust Shell with the future. Shell has to make a profit today. A government bears the responsibility for the future of the society." and for the future health and well being of a huge segment of our country at this time - what a wonderful opportunity to shift from the welfare mentality

"What else are frequent flyer miles besides a currency issued by an airline?" Lietaer asks. "Initially they were mainly meant to commit customers to a certain airline, but over time you could use them to buy groceries in the supermarket, book hotel rooms and pay your phone bill. And you can earn miles without even flying."

This is a wonderful example of what and how people are already programed to think and could shift into a complementary system more quickly.

I send you this in hopes you can influence Bernard Lietaer and help a nation in need of leadership. It is obvious we are lacking something somewhere and I don’t like to point fingers. I have always been amazed at how slowly some people make decisions in crisis situations. This is when intuition and gut responses are far better a decision tool than pondering all the possibilities. Even if "wrong" in the long run something is better than nothing. It appears all this "reading the Patriot Act and FEMA rules" is adding fuel to the fire. They may even be pondering their political future, God forbid.

I have taught classes in self reliance and survival for years. You can read my blog post on creating a quick emergency kit at http://www.discoveryiv.typepad.com/bwom. I will post this letter there as well and add a link to your article. I have an outline for a book, about what to prepare and how to take care of yourself, as I mentioned in the blog.

Keep up the good work. I have written about your magazine in my newsletter several times and quoted the articles as well. Ode is a joy to read, share and stimulate intelligent conversations.

Emergency Preparations

Over the years I have been a Den mother for 12 Cub Scouts, represented my department (70 people) as the Earthquake Preparedness Trainer/Contact and experienced hurricanes, tornadoes, earthquakes, fires and mudslides personally or in my neighborhood.  As I watched, listened to others experiences and read stories I have developed lists and techniques for myself.  Because of my awarenesses, others have asked me to teach them as well.

My book, Are Your Ready?, is in outline format at the current time. As I watch and listen to the disaster from Katrina I realize there is a need for increased awareness.  I will begin with the ten basics as they give you some things to think about and give you some basic information to make a safe transition in an emergency situation much easier.

Emergency Kit if stranded or lost

Carry this in your car or on a hike

1 - Coffee Can (1#) with lid                      2 - 30 gallon trash bags

1 - candle, fat stick or fire starter           1 - lighter or Box of waterproof matches

3 - tea bags                                           5 - packets of sugar

3 - salt packages                                    3 - bandages

3' of duct tape                                        1 - plastic whistle

Options

1 - small knife                         1 - flashlight - hand crank

1 - compass                             1 - bandana - hat, wash cloth, sun screen, sling, bandage

1 - Roll of Toilet Paper              Plastic bags or trowel to dig hole and cover

How to use your kit

Can - Teapot, cup, signal mirror (or use CD)

Candle, fat stick, fire starter saves matches

Sugar - Helps generate body heat

Tea - Gives a boost to hot water (be sure and carry fresh water)

Whistle - Signal help, locator

Tape - Patch trash bags, Secure shelter, secure bandages, make splint

1 - pencil

Trash Bags - Poncho, overnight shelter, rain parka, sleeping bag  Cut a small hole in one corner of one bag for your face, pull over your head.  Second bag can be pulled up over your feet and tuck in belt or pockets.  It can also be secured with the tape.  Fill bags with leaves, clothes, stuffing if you need to stay warm.  Staying warm is the most important key to survival.

Print this list on bright paper and keep in can.  It can be used to leave notes, signal flag, trail marker

Eating For Your Body vs. Emotions

In a recent visit to a farm in Utah, where they dehydrated their fruits, vegetables, nuts and and grains, I was very impressed.

What attracted me there in the beginning was the food was not pasturized.  That means low heat is used and the whole food will retaine the enzymes and nutrition.  The quality of the food is preserved and you and I will benefit from the diverse variety and quality.

The second thing is they did not use preservatives or fillers.  YEA!!! Do you realize how rare this is in the food from the grocery shelves.  The quality is like shopping at the organic food stand everyday.  What is so much fun is that you can buy this quality everyday, create a drink, shake or soup "add to soup under 100 degrees) and experience a restored vitality in your life.

I tested this food energetically and was very impressed with the vitality compared to other products I had in my kitchen.

SO, if you are pressed for time and can't juice, want healthy protein at work or when you travel or are looking to shift your eating from "for your emotions to for your body"  check them out.  They sure are a great addition for the raw food diet.

Buy Whole Foods and Thrive!

What impressed me in my visit was several things:  Ethics, Vitality of the Land, System used in Dehydration and "just the feel of the place".   I guess I could say everything. Questions please e-mail me.  suetrump@att.net

They have virgin cold pressed coconut oil too.

ICE - In Case of Emergency

Add ICE phone numbers to your cell phone

ICE - In Case of Emergency

A campaign encouraging people to enter an emergency
contact number in their mobile phone's memory under
the heading ICE (In Case of Emergency), has rapidly
spread throughout the world as a particular
consequence of terrorist attacks in London.

Originally established as a nationwide campaign in
the UK, ICE allows Paramedics or police to be able
to contact a designated relative next-of-kin in an
emergency situation.
The idea is the brainchild of East Anglian Ambulance
Service
paramedic Bob Brotchie and was launched in May this
year. Bob, 41, who has been a paramedic for 13 years,
said:
"I was reflecting on some of the calls I've attended at
the roadside where I had to look through the mobile phone
contacts struggling for information on a shocked or
injured person.
Almost everyone carries a mobile phone now, and with ICE
we'd know immediately who to contact and what number to
ring. The person may even know of their medical history."

By adopting the ICE advice, your mobile will help the
rescue services quickly contact a friend or relative
-- which could be vital in a life or death situation.
It only takes a few seconds to do, and it could easily
help save your life.

Why not put ICE in your phone now?
Simply select a new contact in your phone book,
enter the word 'ICE' and the number of the person
you wish to be contacted.

Sue's Comment
It might be a good idea to have and ICE2 number
in your phone as well.  This would be someone out
of the area.  If a husband and wife are both involved
in an accident or a natural disaster this
second contact number would be essential.

If you are under a doctors care for critical care
ICE DR would be an additional code to add to the
phone list.
